Tartine Bakery Shortbread Cookies

When I moved away from San Francisco, I knew there would be three things I would miss more than anything else in the world or even more than life itself. I was going to miss Green Apple Books , Mission Chinese Food , and Tartine Bakery . The twisting corners of the book store, the numbing sichuan lamb face of Mission Chinese food, and most of all, the great french style desserts at Tartine. I loved their lemon tarts, their almond croissants, everything. I'm not at the place yet where I feel comfortable making those amazing croissants, but I thought I would try their shortbread cookies. These were by far the best shortbread cookies I've had in my life. They were firm when you broke them apart with your fingers, but they melted in your mouth the second they touched your tongue. Secret Recipe Club: Sesame Seed Cookies

It's time for a special installment of the Secret Recipe Club . As you all know, Secret Recipe Club is a weekly collection of recipes from a great group of bloggers. Every Monday, the particular group makes a recipe from another member (in secret, of course) and reveals it on the given day. It's great fun and you get to learn about some great recipes and amazing blogs. Usually I post with group C on the third Monday of every month. That's today. The months of December/January are a little weird because groups C and D take a break in December and groups A and B take a break in January in order to accommodate for the holidays. Rye Hot Dog Buns

Sometimes, I love a good hot dog, but the hot dog buns always leave much to be desired. I finally made my own hot dog buns and they weren't difficult at all. They were somewhat sweet with a not too strong rye and caraway flavor. They were soft and toasted perfectly. This is a hot dog that will go great with strong mustard and kraut. Do not sully this dog with ketchup. The cool thing about hot dog buns is making them with the slit down the middle. How do you get them to stay attached? I didn't initially understand how to make these buns, but I've attached a diagram that should explain how to make these. Try them for your next BBQ. Secret Recipe Club: Spinach and Feta Stuffed Chicken Breast

It's Secret Recipe time of the month again (really, my favorite week of the month). For those of you who don't know, Secret Recipe Club is a great group of bloggers who make another member's recipe (secretly, of course) and reveal on a given day. It's a wonderful way to meet some new folks and remember some old recipes you may have forgotten long ago. The 3rd Wednesday of the month belongs to group C: my group. This month, I had Mangia Blog by Chelsy. Her blog is very health focused with plenty of paleo and gluten free recipes to serve those of you with those diets. (I try, it's difficult. I like bread and cheese far too much). But she has a sister with celiacs in a giant Italian family. I guess that would inspire me to learn gluten free cooking/baking too.
