It's been a while since I posted here.
The food blog was always something I meant to do. And I did it for quite a while during our time in Los Angeles. But life gets in the way and Secret Recipe Club (which was what was inspiring me to upkeep my food blog) closed down and I just lost motivation after that.
We're now on day 60ish of quarantine and it has still been my intention to restart this blog. It never happened, but I guess it's happening now. Things get in the way sometimes, and writing a recipe blog is especially difficult for someone who doesn't often cook with recipes.
We'll jump back into it with something simple, a duo of fancy toasts. I refuse to pay for fancy toasts when I go to a restaurant because it always seems like something I can do at home.
Ingredients for Savory Avocado Toast
- 1/2 avocado
- 2 radishes, thinly sliced
- cucumber
- a couple pinches of sumac
- some sort of flakey salt
- 1 slice of good artisanal bread, like sourdough
Ingredients for Sweet Strawberry Ricotta Toast
- 2 spoonfuls of ricotta cheese (or however much you want)
- 3 strawberries, sliced into thick chunks
- 1 tsp sesame seeds
- 1 tsp good quality balsamic vinegar. I used an apricot white balsamic
- flakey salt
- 1 slice of good artisanal bread, like sourdough
Directions
- Layer your ingredients on your toast. For the savory bread, you'll have more structural stability if you put the avocado on the bottom, but a better picture if the avocado is on the top.
- Top your avocado toast with sumac, salt and pepper. Add a little lemon if you want, but the sumac is pretty citrusy already
- For the sweet toast, spread your ricotta on the toast. Place strawberries in the cheese and top with sesame and balsamic.
- Enjoy near a window, with a cup of tea, and your day ahead of you.
This post is here. It's in the world. I hope that means I'll come back.

An (?almost?) abandoned blog seems so lonely.... like walking through an old abandoned house.... come back and bring some warmth back to this old house....
